CoderDojo Brisbane is excited to present two school holiday workshops in partnership with the University of Queensland. The sessions will take place on Tuesday 29 and Wednesday 30 March at UQ, and will run for 3 hours each morning.
These sessions are suitable for beginners. No experience is required however they are designed for high school kids only, 13- 17 years old. Each session will feature different activities and topics, outlined below.
Tuesday 29 March
The focus on the Tuesday bootcamp will be Scratch programming and physical computing using MakeyMakey invention kits. Students will learn how to program with Scratch and to create an interactive poster by fitting it with wires and programing a MakeyMakey to control the interactions. This workshop is for beginners, so no prior experience is required.
Wednesday 30 March
The Wednesday bootcamp will feature a robotics session. Students will be challenged and required to program their robots through an obstacle course to find a hidden treasure. No prior experience is needed. Mentors in this session will also have capacity to work with students who are more advanced and would like to use Robot C.

Age: 13- 17 years old
All students are required to bring their own laptop and will need to log on to the UQ Wifi (instructions will be provided on the day). All students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and will be required to complete a consent form however, it would be appreciated if all parents remained outside (within the vicinity of the building) during the session due to space available within the room. If your child has any special needs and requires a parents to remain at all times, please let us know in advance.
Registrations for this event will open at 10am on Friday 18 March via the ‘Join a CoderDojo’ page of the CoderDojo Brisbane website. Places are limited and will be served on a first in, best dressed basis.
