Carindale Library kicks-off!
CoderDojo Brisbane kicked off at Carindale Library on Saturday with a fantastic turnout of 30 kids all eager and excited to learn how to code. We started the kids off by introducing the basics of Scratch, followed by an introduction to HTML.
A big thank you to all our great mentors at Carindale Library for doing a wonderful job in ensuring all the kids were on the right track. Another big thank you to Peter and John for welcoming all the kids and demonstrating Scratch and HTML to the group.
All the kids were enthusiastic and eager to learn, making the session a great success. We hope that you’re looking forward to the upcoming sessions at Carindale Library!
Chermside Library update
Chermside Library continued for its second session on Saturday, with all mentors collaborating together to come up with some great demonstrations for the kids.
We started with a Makey Makey demonstration – a cool hardware kit targeted at kids which lets you make your own game controllers from any household item. Who would have thought that our mentors and participants would be able to create a working piano out of grapes?
After our Makey Makey demonstration the kids continued working with Scratch focusing on creating various games – ping pong, car racing and helicopters, we even had a Flappy Bird clone, which was excellent.
A huge thank you to all our mentors who are doing an outstanding job organising demonstrations for the kids. Chermside Library is going strong with some exciting things planned for the remaining sessions.
Sunnybank Hills Library update
CoderDojo at Sunnybank Hills Library continued on Saturday with a wonderful mix of kids and mentors working with Scratch and HTML. Throughout the session we had several great demonstrations from the kids!
An Alice demonstration is planned for the upcoming session this Saturday – Alice is a 3D programming platform, similar to Scratch, however much more visual and interactive, which the kids should love.
A huge thank you goes to our Sunnybank Hills mentors who have done an excellent job with all the kids and have come up with some awesome demonstrations for the sessions.
CoderDojo Brisbane continues this Saturday at Chermside, Sunnybank Hills and Carindale Library from 12 – 2pm. The first session of CoderDojo Brisbane kicks off at Mt Ommaney Library this Saturday from 12 – 2pm.
Another huge thank you to all our mentors, participants and parents for coming to the sessions and showing such high levels of energy and enthusiasm – we couldn’t do it without you all.
We hope you’re looking forward to the upcoming sessions!
