Kids learning to code at Sunnybank Hills Library!

CoderDojo Brisbane kicked off at Sunnybank Hills Library on Saturday with a truly fantastic turnout!

We had 27 excited kids and 11 wonderful mentors – our best yet! The session kicked off with a Scratch demo by one of our new mentors Xin and Peter then took the lead with HTML.

Thank you so much to all of our wonderful mentors – the session was an amazing success and we couldn’t have done it without your support!

Thanks so much to Molly from Code Heroes for running the first session at Sunnybank Hills Library – she really got the energy levels up, the kids excited and the enthusiasm buzzing! A big thank you to Peter for his HTML demonstration and also Amy from Sunnybank Hills Library and all the library staff for their support and organization on the day.

We have some exciting things planned for future sessions at Sunnybank Hills Library including more Scratch, HTML, Python and Alice.

This coming Saturday (12th October) one of our wonderful mentors, has volunteered to teach the program Alice. Alice is an innovative 3D programming environment that makes it easy to create an animation for telling a story, playing an interactive game, or a video to share on the web. You can learn more here.

Please note if your kids are coming to the session this Saturday, please download Alice v2.3 and also Java 1.7 onto your computer.

Places are now full for Sunnybank Hills Library – we had overwhelming support for this location and we look forward to the sessions to come!
